THE RETURN OF THE LION KING

The Nigerian condition fits into the story of the Animal Farm. The story explains man’s  animalistic crave for power and its usage for dominance over others.

There are varieties of the Napoleon in the Animal Farm that have their hands in the pot of Nigeria. They cook for themselves in a Land of hungry people and live the masses scrambling for bones.
Sadly, the bones are no longer available as the cooks have decided to keep the bones for their dogs. One can then try to explain the logic behind the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) nick-naming Nigeria a Zoo in their propaganda messages.

A zoo is a place where animals of different kinds are kept so that people can go and look at them.
How Nnandi Kanu and Friends explain a zoo might be different from my attempt to help them define it.
Perhaps, they are saying the masses of Nigeria are in cages of various sizes and the leaders take turn to come look at them and sometimes throw bananas at the monkeys among the caged. Due to the nature of the cages, Nigerians cannot react at the high handedness of the leaders that have caged them. This explanation is wise only if you accept that Nigeria is a zoo.

Anyway, if I had a doubt about the “zooness” of the Nigerian state, Mrs Aisha Buhari and Senator Shehu Sani in their analogies of the Hyena and Jackals made me take another look at my doubt.

Mrs Buhari while her husband was in a London hospital on health tourism, hints that the Hyenas and Jackals would soon be ejected from the kingdom on her husband’s return. She stops short of adding ‘animal’ to the ‘kingdom’.
Does she mean the Animal Kingdom?

Shehu Sani the senator from Kaduna State starts the Hyena-Jackal analysis posting that weaker animals were praying for the return of the Lion King, while those he refers to as Hyenas and Jackals were scheming and hoping that the Lion King would never return. Sani also refers to those not wanting the Lion King to return as Wolves and predators.
In her reaction to Sani’s post, Mrs Buhari writes that God has answered the prayers of the weaker animals. She says the Hyenas and Jackals would soon be sent out of the kingdom.
Sani in his reply praises the Lioness for her courage, strength, tenacity and resilience. He also mentions a Tiger acting for the away-king.

From their analysis, it is clear that the dominant animals in their kingdom are the wild ones including Lion and Tiger.
It was said the Lion will soon wake up and chase the Hyenas and Jackals from the kingdom.
No mention was made of monkeys, baboons, ducks and antelopes and donkeys – weaker animals. Perhaps, those ones don’t matter.

However, the picture painted by Mrs Buhari and Senator Sani is not that of wild animals in a zoo. They painted a picture of animals on the prowl.
Are they saying that Nnamdi Kanu and friends got their definition wrong? That instead of being a zoo, Nigeria is a game reserve or better still a forest?

Sadly, the Lion King returned and joined the Hyenas and Jackals in their merriments.
The acting Tiger retreated and joined the party. He always has the task to explain why the forest has become the kingdom of wild animals with astute killing instincts.

It is clear the Lion King cannot handle the storm in the forest.
Remember, Hyenas and Jackals in their numbers can withstand a Lion and Lioness. We don’t have to wait anymore to see how the war unfolds. It has unfolded and it is pitiful in my eyes.
For the other animals that were not mentioned, I hope you still have a place in the kingdom?

Take note:
Spotted hyenas may kill as many as 95% of the animals they eat, while striped hyenas are largely scavengers. Generally, hyenas are known to drive off larger predators, like lions, from their kills.
Jackals are opportunistic omnivores, predators of small- to medium-sized animals and proficient scavengers. Their long legs and curved canine teeth are adapted for hunting small mammals, birds, and reptiles, and their large feet and fused leg bones give them a physique well-suited for long-distance running, capable of maintaining speeds of 16 km/h for extended periods of time — Wikipedia
